Shotokan Karate is an ideal martial art for children age 6 and up. It's a traditional method of self defense that builds confidence in the participants as they gain mental and physical control of themselves. We combine martial art training methods with modern exercise science to produce maximum results in the participants: increased flexibility, balance, muscle tone and coordination are some of the benefits. Classes are taught in a structured format with emphasis on precision and application of technique.

Because we teach a non-contact method, students learn blocks, kicks, punches, elbow and knee strikes in a way that allows them to practice without injury to themselves or others. There are no contracts and no "hidden" equipment costs - the only thing necessary to practice is a Karate uniform (gi) that can be purchased at the time of registration.

Belt tests are offered four times a year so the students progress from white, gold, orange, green, purple, brown and black, monitored to assure they are learning the exercises correctly and performing them well.
